SOUND

Sound from wind turbines is a complex phenomenon and within STandUP for Wind there has been several collaborative studies involving researchers from both Uppsala University and Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). Research focusing on social aspects of wind turbine sound is mainly undertaken at Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and Uppsala University, Campus Gotland. Sound generation and propagation is mainly studied at the Department of Aeronautical and Vehicle Engineering at KTH and at the department of Earth sciences at Uppsala University.
Some research topics include:
-Studies of sound perception
-Long term measurements of sound levels
-Sound propagation model development
-Experimental studies on sound propagation in different atmospheric conditions
-Numerical studies on sound propagation in different atmospheric conditions
